What is a Smart Contract?
An agreement that enforces itself
A smart contract is a small program stored on a blockchain. When its conditions are met, it runs automatically and its result is recorded for everyone to see. Nobody has to trust a middleman to carry out the terms — the code does it.
Think of a vending machine: put in the right input, get a guaranteed output, with no cashier needed. Smart contracts apply that idea to digital agreements.
